Christmas Pet & People Food Drive 2017

Hello all my wonderfurr friends! It’s me! Purr’ll! I am so excited to see everyone around this busy time of the year! Christmas seems to be right around the corner, doesn’t it? I’m looking forward to my mommy helping me put together my wishlist for Santa Paws this year – she says I have been such a good girl and that I absolutely MUST be on the nice side of the list so I have nothing to worry about. Phew! I have really been trying hard to behave so I am glad to see that all my efforts are paying off.

Mommy tells me that its not always about gifts this time of the year. Its about magic, family and love. I couldn’t agree more! There is nothing that I am more grateful for than my mommy and daddy. It’s also why I am so proud of my human team here at Blue Cross Animal Hospital. They hold a food drive at this time every year for the less fortunate animals and people in our community. Instead of buying Christmas gifts for each other, all of the members of my Blue Cross team donate money or pet or human food and help to make a difference to some families who really need it over the Holidays.

If you’d like, you can help us help them too! All the food that we raise goes to the The Food Bank of Waterloo Region, who then distributes it to people and pets in need. It’s actually really easy!

We are collecting cat and dog food, both canned and dry – and of course, treats and toys. We will also be accepting non-perishable food items for people! The Food Bank of Waterloo Region will pick it up whatever we have collected here at the clinic, so the cut off time to drop off your donation will be on Dec 18th. Then those wonderfurr humans will take it back to the shelter so that they can fill the food baskets for pets and people in need this Christmas. They have told us that cat and dog food is in high demand this year, which does make me a little sad. Some of the most sought after human foods are canned meat and fish (yum! I love tuna), canned fruit, stews and chili, beans in sauce, tomato sauce, dry beans, rice and peanut butter.

So this Holiday Season, please…all of us…let’s help out as best as we can! Bring your much needed donations to Blue Cross Animal Hospital – you can bring it to your appointment or simply stop by during our business hours to say hi. My mommy told me that sometimes, giving is its own very special gift. I know that all those pets and people in need would really appreciate all you can do. Please, help us feed them! No pet or person should ever go hungry, especially over the Holidays.
